Online Sales Jobs: Learn How to Apply:

Introduction

As per economic times, the current job scenario has been slow to pick up the pace. The corporate world continues to suffer to the hands of coronavirus. Majority of white-collar young professionals stand in the line of fire and face an uncertain future. Jobs are moving online – for example, online sales jobs.

Hiring will pick up the pace from September to December this year. This is definitely good news and candidates should prepare their curriculum vitae for a comeback.

Sales professionals have been one of the biggest job victims of this pandemic. Unless we talk about the COVID sunrise sectors like pharmaceuticals or technology or telecom. These professionals should realign their resume for better visibility.

Job description, Keywords & Clarity

A good sales resume should focus on the right words and the right content. A smart candidate should first identify their target job and focus on that job description first. However, there are some things common that hiring managers mention in the job description, for example, meeting with high-net-worth clients, liaising with cross-functional teams internally, servicing existing accounts and getting new ones on board, etc. This will give the sales job aspirants the skills to succeed.

Next, the sales professionals should jot down keywords from the job description (JD) and make a list of keywords that they would eventually use in their revised resumes. For example, “servicing current accounts” means having the right account management skills. Doing this exercise helps the candidates in two ways at least. First, they will be able to pass the algorithm checks placed by the hiring managers and second, it will make the candidate look the right fit for the job, right away.

The candidates must, at all times, make sure that the resume is clear, crisp and clutter-free. No one likes to read a biography of the candidate and the hiring managers receive tons of applications for each open position. Candidates should be on-point, highlight achievements and show they will generate benefits for the organization. Sales professionals should keep this in mind at all times.

Average Pay, Duties,

The average salary for an entry-level position in sales varies as per the industry standard. For example, in hospitality, this could be as low as $300 per month. It is also not easy to get hourly pay for sales jobs but that again depends on the industry and whether companies consider them as management or non-management jobs.

Education and Experience

Depending upon the industry, a sales professional may or may not have a technical education. For example, getting into the hotel industry requires graduation in any stream or hotel management. Similarly, the candidate looking to enter pharma or selling heavy machinery should have graduation, in at least, medicine or engineering.

Experience required to enter the client-facing sales jobs is at least, one or two years. For a managerial role, a candidate should have at least, five to six years of relevant experience and a set of client relationships that he/she will bring to the table. Leadership roles require team handling experience of minimum five-six years, in addition to ten to fifteen years of sales experience.

Sites & Conclusion

Sales professional should always look for jobs on relevant job boards like Glassdoor and social media sites like LinkedIn. They should focus on sites that handle quality applications and not quantity. Applying randomly on every site doesn’t bore results.

To summarise, applying for jobs today is being strategic and placing oneself at the right place, at the right time, in front of the right hiring manager.
